Frequently Asked Questions
Audio File Format Compromises: Speed verses Quality
The downloadable CD versions of our library are in high resolution MP3 version only due to large file size of wav and aif. An 800 meg file is still more than most of our customers are willing to download. It becomes a speed vs quality issue. We have done everything we can to encode the MP3 file versions to retain the best possible sound quality while offering a more manageable download.
The individual song download option allows for all of the available file formats.
For the true audiophile, I recommend purchasing the physical CD and extracting the files as .wav into your editing system as the " next best " option. Some day we will all be able to download and listen to 96k / 24 bit audio all the time.
How do I Hear the music? AKA: Tips to a more satisfing audition....
The "Play Montage" button plays an overview of the tracks on that CD to give you a general "feel" for it.
Brand New "Click It" demo player ?
The "Demo" button plays the
full length, medium resolution flash file of the selected track, not a shortened
demo !
We decided it was more important
that you, the customer should be able to make a decision based on the
complete piece of music rather than a short sample which may or may not
work for you in your production. The short, low quality sample would be
quicker, but not better.
To hear the audio, you must have installed
Macromedia FLASH player on your computer.Link to shockwave. http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/
Just a note about the audio demo
button: These play full length auditions, not edited samples. They
represent exactly what you would be downloading or purchasing on CD.
I am having problems with the site, what should I do ?
Most people who have problems with our web site have found that
updating their browser to "FIREFOX" completely fixed it. Its a
free download, go get it !

as prices for each CD and discount pricing for CD purchased in
quantity. These listed fees allow for the most common uses of

If you are a needle drop customer and you would like to, you can
report usage on line. If you already have a system in place for
reporting, please make our customer service department aware of your
preferred procedure. We can provide you with cue sheets upon request.
What about performance licensing from ASCAP and BMI (PRA)?
Broadcasters are responsible to maintain valid performing rights
licenses with ASCAP or BMI in the US or with other performing rights
societies in other countries. Broadcasters are also responsible to pass
the cue sheet information on to ASCAP & BMI for each production.
Broadcasters without valid licenses require a direct performance
license. Productions created for broadcast (commercials, programming,
films etc.) should always contain a complete cue sheet list of music
used, listed by: Composer or arranger, Composer or arranger’s PRA,
Publisher, Publisher’s PRA, CD volume number and track number and Music
library distributor and length of time used and how it was used.
Example: Song title: Ina’s Song, Written by Gene Ort, BMI. Published by Gene Michael Productions, BMI. Music Library: GMP MUSIC, 2:38 seconds, introduction theme.
All GMP MUSIC CDs have the information required on the tray card
and the web site has all the legal information listed for every song
and every CD.
GMP MUSIC can provide, free of charge, cue sheets for your productions.
Important: Creating a cue sheet for your productions does
not cost you, the producer any money ! It simply makes the broadcaster
aware of the musical content legal information so that they can notify
the correct PRA of the performance. Music composers and publishers
receive income from public/broadcast performance of their music.
Is the extensive use of humor in the Production Music Industry literature required?
No, but it helps! In order to impress producer type people, it
is a commonly thought that witty banter spiced with sarcasm implies a
level of creative intelligence that will somehow find its way into the
music production process. Some, take this to the extreme. You know who
you are....... |
